Writing about fishermen and fish

Portfolio Task 3

The graph shows the number of fishermen in millions by region, and the table shows World top ten exporters of fish in 2000, so in the next paragraph I am going to write about both of them.

First of all, there was a huge increase from 11 million to 26 million in Asia throughout the period from 1970 to 2000. Second, the number of fishermen decreased rapidly from 12 million to 4 million in 30 years. Third, in North America number of fishermen doubled to reach 15 million while it was stable in South America at 7 million from 1970 to 2000.

The two most popular countries for exporting fish were Thailand and Norway while Indonesia and South Korea were the least popular.

In conclusion, I would say that Thailand was the highest exporter of fish and Norway is the second and most of the countries are Asian.

Influence of media

Portfolio task 4

The media has a great influence in changing people’s ideas so in the next paragraph I am going to talk about the people who agree and disagree with this.

People who agree that the media can change people ideas are easy to convince that everything they hear or see is totally correct and that depends on the people who you discuss with. First of all, if you talk with a group that wants to deal with drugs you will be with them because all of them want it. Second, killing is a bad thing to do but if you have read a book or saw a TV show about killing you might be more likely to kill.

Other people disagree with the idea of media can change their ideas about something because they think that if you compare what it says in the media with religion they will see a big difference so they will not do it. Second, culture and tradition plays a role for people to think about copying the best habits for you.

In my conclusion, influence can be either from religion or media but we have to think if it is good or not.
